In February 2015, Afriwave was awarded Ghana's first Interconnect Clearing House license after a competitive bidding process against four other applicants. As part of the license awarded, Afriwave is authorized to provide a common, independent mechanism for monitoring, routing, billing and settlement of local and international interconnect traffic for all existing and future telecommunications operators in the country.

The company, in just five months of its test operations made significate progress by curbing SIM-Box fraud via prompt deactivation of over 300,000 detected SIM Box numbers before they became profitable.
